Get over yourself, you’re amazing

It’s natural to think about ourselves all day long but rarely helpful to do so. Whether our ego is inflated or deflated, self obsession blurs our vision, preventing us from clearly seeing the world around us.

To those self obsessing with a inflated ego:

It’s great to be proud of yourself and your accomplishments. Don’t let go of that, but sprinkle some humility in. You can inspire others much more effectively when they can relate to you. Life may not always be going your way like it is now. There is much outside your control. Appreciate what you have. Give thanks for the people, experiences, and opportunities that led you to feel so good about yourself.

To those self obsessing with a deflated ego:

There are so many amazing things about you. Your life in this moment may not be exactly what you want it to be in every way, but there are sure to be pieces of it to be grateful for. And characteristics and actions of yours to be proud of. If there isn’t, then start thinking of them and do just one. Give a dollar to charity or someone in need. Give a genuine compliment to anyone. Think from a friend or family member’s perspective as a thought exercise.

You are a unique, incredibly complex, amazing gift to the world. So relax and be great.
