The AND: How you do anything is how you do everything AND focus/prioritization

How you do anything is how you do everything

I love this quote. It speaks to maintaining a high standard in all areas of your life. Excellence in one area tends to spill over into others. If you exercise you’ll probably eat healthy. If you eat healthy and exercise you’ll likely have higher energy. If you have more energy you’ll likely perform better, be in a better mood, and improve your relationships.

Focus/prioritization

Many condone honing in on your superpower. Concentrating your energy on what you are exceptional at rather than bringing your weak areas up to average. Focusing on your superpower. This way of living appeals to me as well. I love to do the things that bring me energy and that I feel competent at. It’s attractive to imagine being great at one or two things, and easy to justify ignoring other areas to focus on strengths.

The AND

Quality is contagious. If you decide to do something, you should do it right, and thoroughly. Because you are committed to doing the things you do at a high standard, however, you should be selective about what you choose to do. You don’t need to do everything. Do the things that matter and bring purpose and meaning to your life. Focus on the areas that give you energy. Be obsessed with saying no to the unimportant and yes to the things that are a “hell yeah!”. Then be present and dedicated to the task at hand.
