The AND: Providing for vs. being there for your family

Providing For

As a leader of your family your job is to provide for them to the best of your ability. You need to provide them with the resources to be safe and healthy and live a great life.

Being there

Time is our most precious non-renewable resource. We’ve all heard the classic stories of absentee parents who provide financially but don’t have quality relationships with their families.

Providing for AND Being there

How do we maximize the way we provide for our family while also spending the time with them? Strategies. We are present in the moment wherever we are. We make time count in our work endeavors. We make time count at home. When we’re with our children we’re not on our phones. When we’re at work we’re not compromising our focus thinking about personal matters. Being a complete person amplifies our ability to BOTH provide for AND be there for our families. Other people looking up to you at work want to be there for their families too. You don’t need to work 24/7. You need to do the things that move the needle.
