I talk about Extreme Ownership a lot, an excellent book by Navy Seals Jocko Willink and Leif Babin.

A thought that I had recently about it is this: extreme ownership expands your awareness of the impact that you can have. We aren’t in control of our lives, but we have agency over many more of the inputs then we might first imagine. This especially includes our ability to influence others (instead of complaining how they are making our lives difficult).

It’s an empowering message. Instead of letting us off the hook, it lets us realize we have more power than we think. Again, this doesn’t mean that things will always work out the way that we plan, even if we do the right things. Rather it informs us that there are more right things we can be doing to have a greater chance of success.

Let’s get to work today, and see clearly without our vision clouded by ego.
